Employ dirty tricks to force Subramanian Swamy to vacate his official residence
Is history repeating itself?
The vindictiveness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his close aide Home Minister Amit Shah has become evident in asking for the return of the official residence of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who is seen as a fearless critic of the regime’s style of functioning. It is a fact that Swamy was allotted an official residence when the BJP regime re-installed his Z category security, which was cancelled by Swamy’s bête-noire Atal Bihari Vajpayee as one of the first steps when he became the Prime Minister in 1996.
Threats from LTTE & others
Since 1991, Swamy has been facing threats from the world’s dreaded terrorist organization LTTE apart from Jehadi elements and the Central government accorded him the Z category security. Vajpayee, due to his personal rivalry with Swamy, first downgraded it to Y Category, and later the then Home Minister L K Advani allowed the Z category only in Tamil Nadu when Swamy visits the State.
As a Z-category protectee has several security personnel, the government always allots a government residence to the person for the full-time settlement of the security personnel and their vehicles.
And now the duo shows their ruthless streak
See the vindictiveness of Modi and Shah in Subramanian Swamy’s case. Swamy was allotted an official residence in December 2015 when he was placed under Z-category security. Every person placed under this category is allotted a residence with an outhouse for the security persons for their full-time operations and for use as their base camp. The official residence campus includes the base camps for the security personnel also. Later, in April 2016, Swamy was nominated into Rajya Sabha and when his tenure ended in April 2022, within a week, the mischievous Urban Development Ministry under Hardeep Suri shot off a letter asking him to return the official home saying his tenure in Rajya Sabha is ended. Here Hardeep Puri was playing the role of Shikhandi in Mahabharat.
Shah: Modi’s Sancho Panza
Swamy told the Urban Ministry that they have no role in this home allotment as it is allotted due to Z Security paraphernalia. Swamy approached the Delhi High Court making Urban Development Ministry and Union Home Ministry the opposite parties. Here comes the fraud from Home Ministry under Amit Shah (who Swamy frequently refers to as Modi’s Sancho Panza). The Home Ministry tells the Court that Swamy is still having Z Security and they will continue to provide the same at his private residence. How can all the security personnel and their base camp be installed at Swamy’s own home in Nizamuddin East area? Was this not the reason for moving him to a government residence in 2015 in the first place? Where is the Home Ministry going to create the “extra space” required to house the Z-Security posse?
Is the duo trying to gag Swamy?
Do Narendra Modi and Amit Shah think, Subramanian will become fearful and stop criticizing them and their wrong policies? Before the BJP came to power in mid-2014 (in which Subramanian Swamy played a major role), Swamy was fighting the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress regime from his own home. People in power with a petty mindset always do these kinds of dirty tricks to settle scores with their opponents and their critics.
A long list of people betrayed
We have seen how Narendra Modi as Gujarat Chief Minister reduced the security cover of critics and Cabinet colleague Haren Pandya, leading to his killing at his morning walk by enemies. Recently, we have seen the killing of singer Sidhu Moose Wala, days after the Punjab government withdrew his security cover.
In a nutshell, the withdrawal of the official residence of Subramanian Swamy who is having Z-category security cover by the Modi-Shah regime is nothing but sheer vindictiveness against those who oppose or critique their style of functioning – which is not good for a democracy, where dissent and debate are a must.

It’s about time he does it before it’s too late for him.
