Even today, the voice of the Kashmiri Hindus or the voice that demands answers from the authorities is made silenced

Exodus and exile of Kashmiri Pandits from valley

Kashmiri Hindus were forced to move out of their homes in Kashmir valley in the 1990s. They were made to suffer for belonging to a particular community and a religious minority in the valley. The Kashmiri separatists, aided and funded by Pakistan, supported by the Kashmiri politicians, believed that it was time for their ethnic cleansing so that Nizam-E-Mustafa (Rule of Muhammad) could be introduced in the state.

According to government figures, at least 219 Kashmiri Hindus were brutally killed by terrorists who advocated cessation of Kashmir valley from India. Unofficial figures, however, point out more than 400 killings. The pogrom unleashed by Pakistan-backed terrorists witnessed the exodus of around 3.5 lakh Kashmiri Hindus from their motherland. Faced with threats of the murder of their men and rape of their women, the Kashmiri Hindus took asylum in camps in Jammu and the national capital Delhi.

For over 30 long years, those who were in power refused to hear the cries of these helpless Kashmiri Hindus. They were reduced to hapless refugees in their own country.

Even today, the voice of the Kashmiri Hindus or the voice that demands answers from the authorities is made silenced. In a recent TV Show, which had Mehbooba Mufti as its guest, a senior TV anchor was not allowed to complete his questions.

Taking note of this, Actor Anupam Kher tweeted, “Why did Aaj Tak people not let Sunil Bhat finish his statement/ question. Even after 32 years, people want to hush up the matter of the Kashmiri Pandits genocide in a hurry. National channels need to play fair! I am sorry but this was unfair and unjustified!! Disappointed!”

One netizen said, “Entire history of Congress is full of hush ups – Bose, Shastry, KP, 26/11, various genocides, to name the most prominent ones. Botched-up investigations, alibis, destruction of evidence, bribe, etc. have changed the course of our country.

One tweet read, “Kashmiri Hindus are facing exile for thirty-two years and Mehbooba is unable to bear even a minute’s question.”

Why media invites anti-nationals to talk? It is an insult to our forces who are fighting on the ground to defeat militancy and our media decorates the separatist by giving them free publicity and airtime.
