CRPF’s Zero-Fatality Year: Modi Calls It “A ZERO That Speaks Volumes”

Prime Minister said he would honour the personnel for their sacrifices, selfless service and unwavering devotion to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading to Bastar in Chhattisgarh to celebrate Diwali with the security personnel deployed on anti-Naxal operations in the region.

In a post on X on Sunday, the Prime Minister said Bastar was once an area where Naxalism held sway and is now seeing development flourish. He said he would salute the security forces for their sacrifices, selfless service and unwavering devotion to the nation.

The visit follows a milestone for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which has gone 12 consecutive months without an operational fatality. The last operational fatality in the force was on October 30, 2025. The Prime Minister lauded the force for the feat, calling it “A ZERO that speaks volumes.”

CRPF Director General GP Singh credited the achievement to modern equipment, better training and strategic planning, along with improved response after an incident, including high-speed evacuation of injured personnel to secondary and tertiary medical facilities. He said the milestone was especially significant because the force remains deployed in all major operational theatres and is delivering significant results.

The CRPF has been at the forefront of efforts to uproot Naxalism in Bastar, which for long was a major obstacle to development in the region. With peace and security being strengthened, development in education, healthcare, roads, electricity, communication, tourism and employment is expected to gain fresh momentum.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has led the push to end Naxalism. According to Shah, the government’s policy is clear: those who give up violence and surrender are allowed to rejoin mainstream society, while security forces act against those who break the law and endanger innocent citizens. Many people have surrendered and returned to the mainstream during the campaign.
