The cartoon voice talk bubble thingy, “गधे से गधा मिले तो मिल गये दो लात” is simply not correct; instead, is funny and comic in itself. “गधे से गधा मिले तो मिल गयीं (better: गईं) दो लातें” is appropriate. Kindly let me point out that ‘लात’ is a singular, feminine (gender) noun, whose plural form is लातें. ‘मिल गये दो लात’ wrongly presumes ‘लात’ to be a masculine noun (unaltered whether singular or plural). Moreover, ‘गधा’, being singular and masculine, should lead to “गधे से गधा मिला तो मिल गयीं दो लातें”; however, “गधे से गधा मिले तो मिल गयीं (better: गईं) दो लातें”, too, is alright but only if the ‘मिले’ implies ‘मिला’ in the subjunctive (= if) mood. Luckily, the situation here involves an intransitive verb (= अकर्मक क्रिया) like ‘मिला’; where there is a transitive verb (= सकर्मक क्रिया) like, say, ‘गाया’, the verb takes the gender of the OBJECT, and a ‘ने’ appears immediately after the SUBJECT, eg, ‘नर्मदा ने गाना गाया’.
