PM Modi’s prophecy of opposition bringing “no confidence” motion comes true

As the Opposition party’s coalition, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.), decided to bring a no-confidence motion against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central government, PM Narendra Modi’s video replying to such a motion in 2018, has gone viral wherein he mockingly tells the opposition parties that they should prepare to table a similar exercise in 2023 as well.

While replying in Lok Sabha to the no-confidence motion in 2018, PM Modi said, “I would like to extend my good wishes that you prepare well so that in 2023 you get a chance to bring no-confidence motion again.”

Responding to an opposition member, PM Modi said it was the consequence of arrogance that the Congress’ tally fell from over 400 at one time to nearly 40 in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

I.N.D.I.A had said on Tuesday that it will be bringing a no-confidence motion against the government in an attempt to make it respond to raging issues, including the Manipur situation.

This came after days of disruption in both Houses of Parliament over the opposition’s demands for a detailed discussion on the Manipur situation, where ethnic clashes erupted on May 3.
