Shiv Sena fields BJP’s Shaina NC from Mumbadevi

BJP spokesperson Shaina NC has officially joined the Shiv Sena, shortly after being announced as the party’s candidate for the Mumbadevi constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for November 20. She plans to file her nomination today.

Expressing her gratitude, Shaina NC took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar for the opportunity. “Our Mahayuti leadership has given me an opportunity to serve the people of Mumbadevi for the Assembly elections,” she stated.

Her party switch came just hours after the Shinde-led Shiv Sena announced her candidacy. Speaking to news agency ANI, Shaina NC emphasized her deep connection to South Mumbai, where she has lived her entire life. “I understand the challenges citizens face here, from cluster development to local hygiene and open spaces. I am committed to the people of Mumbai,” she said.

Shaina NC expressed her desire to be more than just a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), stating, “I want to be their voice. It is crucial that we showcase the collective consciousness of the administration, the legislature, and the citizens in terms of good public service.” She assured voters of her accessibility, stating, “I have no PA; I answer all my calls, and I will always be accountable to my citizens and all my voters.”

The Mumbadevi constituency is part of the Mumbai Lok Sabha seat and has been represented by Congress’s Amin Patel since 2009. Earlier speculation suggested that the BJP might field Shaina NC in Worli, but the Shiv Sena has instead announced former Congress leader Milind Deora as its candidate for that seat. Deora will now face off against Uddhav Thackeray’s son, Aaditya Thackeray, representing the Shiv Sena (UBT).

  1. She will be competing with Priyanka Chaturvedi (supposed to be empty intelligent) representing Udhav Thackeray in the media debates.

  2. She is a wonderful, expressive, articulate & excellent person. She is somewhat a lesser shade like Nupur Sharma, Changing party seems to be a premeditated action for some unknown reason.
Somewhat unexpected move, required to be investigated.
Think BJP wanted her as spokeperson, but not as an MLA & her aspirations were not delved or anticipated by BJP which is busy with itself.
