Police warn against ‘donkey route’ migration racket
In a major development, the United States has deported 54 youths from Haryana for allegedly entering the country through the ‘Donkey Route’—an illegal network used to cross borders without valid documentation. The deported individuals arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal-3) on flight OAE-4767, police confirmed on Sunday.
According to officials, the deported individuals hail from various districts across Haryana — 16 from Karnal, 15 from Kaithal, 5 from Ambala, 4 each from Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra, 3 from Jind, 2 from Sonipat, and one each from Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, and Fatehabad. Most of them are between 25 and 40 years old.
Karnal DSP Sandeep Kumar said the individuals were deported for illegal entry into the US via the Donkey Route, a perilous path that typically involves human traffickers and multiple border crossings.
“Around 50 people from Haryana, including 16 from Karnal, were deported today for entering the US illegally. They have been handed over to their families. No complaints have been received regarding any agent involvement,” DSP Kumar stated.
Police officials have warned residents against falling prey to illegal immigration networks, stressing that such routes often end in detention, deportation, or exploitation abroad. Investigations are underway to verify whether any of the deported individuals have criminal records or links to organised networks.
The deportations come amid a renewed crackdown on illegal immigration by the Trump administration, which has toughened enforcement and increased removals of undocumented migrants.
STF Arrests Lawrence Bishnoi’s Associate After US Deportation
In a parallel development, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a breakthrough in its campaign against organised crime by arresting Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Singh, a resident of Titram village in Kaithal district, was deported from the US following legal procedures and detained by the STF’s Ambala unit upon arrival. Authorities said Singh had been operating from the United States since 2022, working under the directions of Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother.
An STF statement revealed that Singh was involved in around a dozen extortion and firing cases in Haryana and Punjab. His criminal record spans multiple districts, including Sonipat, Rohtak, Yamuna Nagar, Kaithal, and Ambala.
A Look Out Circular (LOC) and Red Corner Notice (RCN) were issued against him in 2023 and 2024, respectively. After a year-long coordinated effort with national and international agencies, Singh’s deportation from the US was successfully executed.
Officials said his arrest marks a significant success in efforts to dismantle transnational criminal networks operating from abroad.
