Hamad International Airport reopens after weeks of disruption
India’s leading carriers are set to restore full-scale flight operations to Hamad International Airport from May 1, signalling a gradual return to normal air connectivity after weeks of disruption caused by regional conflict.
The resumption comes nearly two months after a military escalation involving the United States and Israel targeting sites in Iran triggered wider instability across the Middle East.
Air India, IndiGo among carriers restarting services
Major Indian airlines, including Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo, are expected to lead the resumption by reconnecting Doha with key Indian metro cities and regional hubs.
In a statement posted on X, the Embassy of India in Doha said operations are being restored as part of broader efforts to stabilise aviation activity in the region.
Flight schedules still subject to change
While services are set to resume, authorities cautioned that flight schedules remain dynamic due to the evolving security situation.
Passengers have been advised to stay in close contact with airlines for real-time updates on departures, arrivals, and booking status.
Qatar airspace reopening after weeks of disruption
Despite its diplomatic role during the crisis, Qatar experienced significant disruption, with its airspace largely closed to commercial traffic for nearly two months.
During this period, Hamad International Airport operated only limited emergency and evacuation flights.
Ceasefire enables gradual recovery
A fragile ceasefire brokered in Islamabad in mid-April has paved the way for the phased return of international aviation.
The truce, recently extended by Donald Trump, has allowed insurers to reassess risks and approve the gradual reopening of flight operations.
Regional aviation slowly stabilising
The resumption of flights to Doha marks an important step in restoring connectivity between India and the Gulf, a critical corridor for trade, travel, and the Indian diaspora.
However, officials underline that the situation remains sensitive, and full normalisation will depend on sustained stability in the region.
