Prateek Yadav was brought dead to a Lucknow hospital after his health reportedly deteriorated due to lung-related complications

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, died in Lucknow on Wednesday at the age of 38.

According to police sources, Prateek was brought to Lucknow Civil Hospital by family members around 6:15 am, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His wife, BJP leader Aparna Yadav, was reportedly not present at the time.

Officials said a panel of doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary observations found no visible injury marks on the body.

Sources said Prateek Yadav had been battling lung-related health issues for a long time and was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. His condition reportedly worsened early Wednesday morning after he became unresponsive, prompting family members to rush him to the hospital.

Prateek Yadav was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta. He was also the stepbrother of Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

An MBA graduate from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, Prateek Yadav was known as a real estate developer and fitness enthusiast. In 2016, he opened Lucknow’s first modern gym and gained attention in bodybuilding circles after featuring on an internationally recognised fitness platform in 2012 for his physical transformation.

He had credited his fitness journey to a motivational conversation with his father years earlier. Apart from business and fitness, he was also associated with animal welfare initiatives.

Prateek had occasionally remained in the spotlight due to controversies, including criticism in 2017 over his purchase of a luxury Lamborghini car worth around Rs 5 crore. Responding to the criticism at the time, he had stated that the vehicle was bought through a loan and that all financial records were legitimate.

Prateek Yadav married Aparna Yadav in 2011 after several years of courtship. Aparna later joined the BJP and emerged as a prominent political figure in Uttar Pradesh. The couple has two children together.

Earlier this year, reports of differences between the couple surfaced after social media posts indicated plans for divorce, though no legal separation eventually took place.
