The tech giant has continued trimming teams across divisions even as it doubles down on AI-driven growth and automation.
Amazon has announced another round of layoffs, this time affecting employees in its Selling Partner Services division, the team responsible for supporting third-party sellers on the company’s marketplace platform.
The latest cuts are part of Amazon’s broader restructuring efforts, which have continued across multiple departments over the past several months as the company focuses on efficiency and long-term investments in artificial intelligence.
While Amazon described the latest layoffs as impacting a “small number” of employees, the move adds to a growing list of workforce reductions carried out by the company in recent months.
The Selling Partner Services team plays a key role in helping millions of third-party merchants manage accounts, handle deliveries and resolve operational issues on Amazon’s platform.
According to reports, affected employees will receive severance pay, temporary healthcare coverage and assistance in finding new jobs.
Amazon said it regularly reviews organisational structures to align teams with business priorities and improve operational efficiency.
The company has already cut tens of thousands of jobs over the past year, including layoffs across retail, robotics and other business units. The restructuring comes as Amazon continues adjusting after the rapid hiring expansion during the pandemic-driven e-commerce boom.
At the same time, Amazon is sharply increasing investments in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
CEO Andy Jassy has repeatedly said AI will transform the company’s operations across retail, logistics, advertising and cloud computing while also helping improve productivity and efficiency.
He has also acknowledged that increased automation and AI adoption could reduce the need for certain roles within the company over time.
Despite the layoffs, Amazon continues to invest heavily in AI infrastructure, including data centres and cloud technologies, as it positions itself for the next phase of technological growth.
