Strict Bakrid guidelines issued
The chief minister directed that sacrifices be carried out only at designated locations
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to tighten security and administrative arrangements ahead of Bakrid, stating that animal sacrifice will not be allowed in public places during the festival.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on law and order, the chief minister said sacrifices must take place only at pre-designated locations and no new sites or traditions would be permitted. He also reiterated that the slaughter of prohibited animals remains strictly banned.
Adityanath further instructed officials to ensure that namaz is offered only at traditional venues and warned that no permission should be granted for prayers on roads or public pathways.
According to an official statement, the chief minister stressed the need for proper waste disposal arrangements after ritual sacrifices in every district. He also directed authorities to prevent open sale of meat and crack down on illegal slaughterhouses.
“Even licensed slaughterhouses must operate strictly within their approved capacity,” he told officials.
The chief minister asked district administrations to remain on high alert regarding sanitation, uninterrupted electricity supply, and security arrangements during the festive period. He directed police to conduct flag marches in sensitive areas and intensify foot patrolling around religious sites.
During the meeting, Adityanath interacted with district magistrates and police chiefs from sensitive districts, including Aligarh, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Rampur, and Sambhal. He instructed officials to review past incidents, identify potential troublemakers, and take preventive action wherever necessary.
The chief minister also directed officials to maintain regular communication with peace committees at police station, tehsil, and district levels to ensure communal harmony during the celebrations.
Reviewing preparations for the upcoming Ganga Dussehra festival, Adityanath ordered authorities to ensure cleanliness at ghats, proper barricading, ambulance deployment, shade arrangements, and efficient parking management in districts such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, and Amroha.
“In view of the intense heat, the safety and convenience of devotees should be the top priority,” he said.
The chief minister also directed officials to launch a campaign against vehicles without number plates and ordered the formation of a task force to take strict action against illegal mining activities.
He further instructed immediate appointments in districts where the post of Chief Medical Officer remains vacant.
Adityanath also announced weekly block-level “chaupals” to address public grievances, including revenue disputes, domestic violence complaints, extortion cases, and police-related issues that often remain unresolved at the local level.
The chief minister additionally reviewed the functioning of the AYUSH department and called for effective implementation of the ‘AYUSH Health and Wellness Policy-2026’ across the state.
He said Uttar Pradesh should evolve into a major wellness destination by promoting AYUSH systems, yoga, Panchakarma, naturopathy, and wellness tourism alongside modern healthcare infrastructure.
