Anmol Bishnoi moves plea to surrender in Salman Khan firing case

Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, has filed a plea before a special court in Mumbai seeking to surrender in the 2024 Salman Khan residence firing case “in the interest of a fair trial and justice.

Deported from US, arrested by NIA last year

Anmol, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was deported from the United States in November last year and subsequently arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He was wanted in several high-profile cases, including the firing outside Salman Khan‘s residence, which is being investigated by the Mumbai police.

Plea seeks to join ongoing trial

In his application before the special MCOCA court, Anmol stated that he intends to voluntarily surrender to “face the ongoing trial and join the judicial proceedings in the interest of fair trial and further in the interest of justice.” He said he is already under the “physical control of law” in a separate NIA matter and cannot appear before the court in person without an appropriate court order. He asserted that formally recording his surrender is essential to facilitate virtual or physical remand proceedings in the current case, and urged the court to issue a production warrant to Tihar Jail for his appearance.

Anmol’s plea argued that his surrender would cause no prejudice to the prosecution and would instead help expedite the trial while preventing misuse of legal process. The application also noted that the trial has already begun, with three witnesses examined in his absence so far.
