
Panic gripped Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival after gunfire erupted, leaving two people dead and five others wounded
At least two people were killed and five others injured after a gunman opened fire during a popular food festival in Seattle, United States, on Saturday evening, triggering panic among hundreds of attendees near the city’s iconic Space Needle.
According to Seattle Police, the shooting took place at the Seattle Center during the annual Bite of Seattle festival. Authorities said it was not immediately clear whether any suspect had been taken into custody.
In a statement posted on X, the Seattle Police Department confirmed that officers were responding to a shooting involving multiple victims and urged people to stay away from the area.
The gunfire erupted at around 6 pm (local time) as the festival was underway. The injured were rushed to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, local media reported.

Videos circulating on social media captured the sound of gunfire followed by scenes of chaos as people ran for safety.
The annual Bite of Seattle festival, which began in 1982, is one of the city’s biggest public events, attracting around 3,50,000 visitors over three days with food stalls, live music and community celebrations.
Police have launched an investigation into the shooting, and further details are awaited.
