Aerial footage reveals staggering destruction after flash floods tear through Nepal
Entire villages, roads and key infrastructure have been swept away after devastating flash floods struck Nepal’s Himalayan border region, with aerial footage revealing the scale of destruction left behind by the disaster.
The surge of water tore through settlements along the Bhote Kosi and Trishuli rivers, carrying away homes, bridges, roads and power facilities. Aerial footage captured during rescue operations showed what remained of villages reduced to muddy debris, while rescuers searched through sludge for survivors.
At least 162 people have died in Nepal, while 403 people, including 142 Indian nationals, have been reported missing, according to authorities cited by NDTV. The disaster has also affected neighbouring Tibet, where a major mudslide at the Gyirong border hub was reported to have killed three people and left hundreds missing.

Experts have warned that the danger may not be over. A blockage further upstream could trigger another flood, making the situation particularly dangerous for communities along the affected river systems.
