Days after Finance minister Arun Jaitley said these writers were engaged in “manufactured“ protests and BJP leaders accused them of being “communists“ and Congressis, Prime minister Narendra Modi has himself taken the initiative to reach out to these authors, many of whom are highly respected and ageing.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has invited popular Urdu poet Munawwar Rana days after he returned his ‘Sahitya Academy Award’ on live TV. Sources said that PM wants to understand the reason behind such outrage among the writing community against the government and prevail upon them to give up their protest.

Incidentally, Modi’s attempt to reach out to Ran came on a day RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat talked of inclusivity as the core strength of Indian culture and indirectly snubbed those trying to communalise the politics.
