[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap] sense of fear has gripped Kerala following reports that 18 youths including three young girls, have left the shores of the State as volunteers of the dreaded Islamic State (IS). The girls which included a medical student, fell in love with Muslim boys, got converted to Islam and joined the extremist organisation (we are not supposed to use the term “terrorist” to describe the IS activists or fighters) to wage Jihad against Kafirs.
The girls are victims of the infamous Love Jihad, the modus operandi employed by recruiting agents for IS or Leshkar-e-Toiba, another organisation specialising in Jihad and annihilation of Hindus, whom they describe as enemies. Earlier, the bosses of these organisations used to deploy young and good looking youth to charm and then trap the unsuspecting girls from all over Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The youths who follow the girls in their 100 cc bikes somehow manage to win the confidence of the girls, get their names and addresses and then follow them wherever they go. If the girl does not have a mobile phone, the Jihadi Romeos present them a smart phone with pre-paid connection so that they can communicate at any time round the clock. Girls in the age group of 14 to 21 are sitting ducks and fall easy prey to the machinations of these sweet talking and mild mannered youths.
Once they win the confidence of these unsuspecting girls, it is easy to trap them. The girls, attracted by the sweet and romantic approach of the boys, blindly obey them and elope with them to the nearest registrar office to register the marriage. More than 99 per cent of these girls are ignorant of the fact that registration office and procedures are just a façade and does not offer them any legal remedies in the eventualities of the failure of the marriages. They are also ignorant of the background of the youth with whom they elope. In most cases, the youth would have married twice and are past-masters in the game of managing the girls.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]H[/dropcap]undreds of girls have committed suicide in Kerala during the last two years when they are ditched by the lovers. Many have disappeared and there are no information about them. The previous UDF government and the present LDF government had vehemently denied reports about Love Jihad. When an agitated Hindu organisation approached the Kerala High Court with a plea to order a probe into the Love Jihads, the court issued notice to the Government of Kerala and the then director general of police. Jacob Punnoose, the then DGP, told the court that his police could not locate the Love Jihad operatives as the latter did not have any registered office and address!
What has shocked some of the intelligence officers in Kerala Police is the indifference and callousness with which the Oommen Chandy led government ignored the shocking report submitted by the then ADGP (Intelligence) T P Senkumar detailing the kind of Islamic extremism taking place in the State. He has furnished details of how Love Jihad takes place in the campuses in Kerala and pointed out that Left student organisations like the SFI, AISF, DYFI and CPI(ML) were allegedly secretly helping the Jihadists in selectively targeting Hindu girls for religious conversion and subsequent trading of these victims.
The report prepared by Senkumar has said that the religious conversion in Kerala was with an eye to shift the communal dynamics and religious demography in the State and was funded by external agencies. But both the Congress-led UDF ans the CPI(M)-led LDF had scoffed at such apprehensions and warnings from State and Central intelligence agencies.
In a trend that should be of concern to everyone, Kerala is becoming a safe haven for Islamic extremists. Both the UDF and the LDF are vying with each other in appeasing these Jihadi elements. This was exposed when the LDF and the UDF got a resolution unanimously adopted in the Kerala Legislative Assembly to release Abdul Nazer Maudani, leader of the PDP and an accused in the Coimbatore serial bomb blast case, the Bangalore serial bomb blast case and the burning of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Bus at Kochi of all charges. Pinarayi Vijayan, the present chief minister and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the CPI(M) boss shared the stage with Maudani and sang paeans in honour of the latter.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]hough many Hindu activists including RSS workers have been killed by extremists belonging to various Islamic organisations, no action has been taken in any of the murders. The 2003 Maradu massacre in which nine Hindu fishermen were slaughtered by Islamic fundamentalists is still fresh in the minds of the people. Names of some of the Muslim League leaders including a Union Minister figured as suspects in this case though nothing came out of the investigation. Some of the persons who surrendered in the court were “benamis” while the real culprits managed to flee the country.
A K Antony, the then chief minister of Kerala, lost his chair following the ire of the Muslim League leaders as Antony refused to obey their demand of subverting the investigation. The latest report about 18 neo converts to Islam leaving the Kerala shores for a west Asian country has shocked even the Marxist Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who described the situation as “grave”.
