India rejects China’s ‘uncalled’ remarks on J&K at OIC meet
On Wednesday, India slammed China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi‘s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, terming them “uncalled”. India also stressed other countries have no “locus standi” to comment on its internal matters.
Attending the OIC meet – in China’s first presence at the OIC, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that “On the Kashmir issue, we have once again heard the call of many Islamic friends. China shares the same aspirations. China believes that the Kashmir “dispute” should properly and peacefully be addressed in accordance with the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions and the bilateral agreements.”
Issuing an official statement, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “We reject the uncalled reference to India by the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his speech at the Opening Ceremony (of the OIC meet in Islamabad). Matters related to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India. Other countries including China have no locus standi to comment. They should note that India refrains from the public judgment of their internal issues.”
Addressing the session after being elected as the chairman to the 48th session of the OIC CFM, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also raised the Kashmir issue and alleged that Indian actions violate the resolutions of the UN Security Council and increased the threat of a conflict between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the ever-ranting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan again raked up the Kashmir issue at the OIC foreign ministers’ meeting in Islamabad.
