Rajouri: Tension in the area
Five Hindus including a minor child were killed and 10 others were injured in two back-to-back terror strikes in the Dangri village of the frontier Rajouri district in the last 24 hours.
Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS) and other organizations gave a call for a bandh in Rajouri to protest the targeted killings of members belonging to the minority community.
Four Hindus were killed on Sunday evening when at least two heavily armed terrorists barged inside the houses of these families in Dangri village and opened indiscriminate firing after verifying their identity cards.
The terrorists killed three civilians on the spot while seven others received bullet injuries. One of them succumbed to his injuries while being airlifted to Jammu late at night. All three families were preparing for dinner when the terror attack took place.
After a gap of around 14 hours when these families were assembled in the village to mourn the killing of their loved ones, an IED blast was reported near the house of a terror victim around 9.30 a.m on Monday. A minor child succumbed to his injuries while five others were undergoing treatment at the Rajouri Medical college.

Following these targeted killings the entire area is witnessing protest demonstrations.
The relatives of deceased family members have been protesting by keeping their dead bodies in the middle of the road. The traffic on the Rajouri Poonch National Highway has been suspended
According to Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, “A child was killed and five others injured in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that took place in Rajouri’s upper Dangri village on Monday morning”.
Officials said that the explosion took place near the house where on Sunday four civilians were killed by terrorists in a shooting incident.
ADGP Singh cautioned people as another suspected IED was spotted in the area. “Senior officials of the security forces including IG CRPF are reaching the spot,” he added.
Dheeraj Sharma, Sarpanch of village Dhangri told reporters late Sunday evening heavily armed terrorists targeted three houses of the minority community. It seems they were aware that the village is dominated by the minority community and opened fire on their houses, he said, adding the possibility that they had conducted a recce of the village can’t be ruled out.
LG Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the terror attack in Rajouri.
In a tweet Sinha said, “I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Rajouri. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families”.
Sinha also announced an ex-gratia for the next of kin. “An ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh and a Govt job would be given to the next of kin of each of those civilians martyred in the dastardly attack. Seriously injured would be given Rs.1 lakh. Officials have been directed to ensure the best treatment to injured”.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday posted a tweet questioning the violation of Standard operating procedure. “This apparent carelessness on the part of the security forces needs to be probed & accountability fixed. Costly lessons learnt in the past taught us not to hand over the sites of encounters/ attacks without throughly sanitizing them. Why wasn’t this SOP followed in Rajouri“?
The death toll has increased. One more young girl succumbed to her injuries, bringing the total to six killed.

Have faith in our defense forces, who are hunting & killing the terrorists….some headlines will be there, in another 3-4 years, calm will return & another 5 years, peace & total peace.
