Emails from the Epstein files reportedly show Cami Clark seeking funding for Eddice, years before her marriage to Anthropic CEO
The wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Cami Clark, once approached convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein seeking investment in a business she described as a “luxury porn” venture, according to a Wall Street Journal report based on emails from the Epstein files.
The correspondence dates back to 2011 and 2012, years before Clark married Amodei. Clark was then working on Eddice, a proposed women-focused adult entertainment company. She reportedly contacted Epstein after being introduced to him by literary agent John Brockman.
The emails show Clark attempting to interest Epstein in the venture and sharing details about the company’s plans. At one point, she sent him material related to proposed films, describing one attachment as containing a script or treatment and warning that it was not safe for work.
Epstein declined the investment
Clark later followed up with Epstein about investing in the venture. In one exchange, she reminded him of their earlier meeting by referring to the company as a “free luxury porn company” and asked whether he remained interested.
Epstein responded that he could not invest in sex-related television projects, according to the reported correspondence. The available reporting does not indicate that Epstein ultimately invested in Eddice.
The resurfaced emails therefore document a fundraising approach, rather than an established investment relationship between Epstein and Clark’s venture.
Who is Cami Clark?
Clark has attracted renewed attention because of her role around Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind Claude. Although she does not officially hold a position at Anthropic, the Wall Street Journal has described her as an influential adviser and sounding board for her husband. She has also reportedly been present at major technology and investment gatherings, where she interacted with prominent figures in the industry.
Clark and Amodei began dating in 2014 and married in 2022. Her earlier business ventures included Eddice and a later women’s health technology project.
Her connections also reportedly helped bring influential figures into Amodei’s orbit. Among them was former Google executive Eric Schmidt, who became an early Anthropic investor after being introduced to Amodei through Clark, according to the Journal.
Old emails resurface as Anthropic comes under spotlight
The Epstein correspondence has resurfaced as scrutiny grows around Clark’s behind-the-scenes influence and her relationship with one of Silicon Valley’s most powerful AI companies.
However, the emails concerning Eddice predate Clark’s marriage to Amodei by more than a decade, and the reports do not allege that Amodei or Anthropic had any involvement in the venture or in Clark’s communications with Epstein.
The disclosures instead shed light on an unusual chapter in Clark’s entrepreneurial past and her efforts to court high-profile investors long before Anthropic emerged as a major force in artificial intelligence.
