[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]E[/dropcap]ver since images of a kashmiri youth tied on the bonnet of an army jeep has gone viral lot of hue and cry has been raised against the army officer who was chiefly responsible for escorting the poll party and ITBP men safely to their destinations without firing a single bullet.

In contrast to this more than dozen incidents have been reported in South kashmir districts of Kashmir valley in the recent weeks where militants managed to gave slip to the security forces and breached tight cordon as local residents stepped out of their houses and pelted stones on the security forces to divert their attention.

Instead of acknowledging his out of box thinking and innovating on ground zero to effectively deal with the situation both mainstream politicians and the separatists in Kashmir valley condemned the move and demanded strict punishment for the officer.

They started behaving as if the junior army officer had robbed them of any opportunity to play ‘dirty politics’ over the dead bodies of local kashmiris.

In response when Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat awarded a commendation card to the brave officer for his contribution in the counter insurgency operations in the hinterland fresh protests broke out in different parts of Kashmir valley.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, famous for reacting only on social networking platforms, wrote a lengthy column in a national daily arguing against the decision of the Army Chief to award commendation card to the army officer. He also labelled Army’s Court of Inquiry as ‘farce’.

Several others also targeted Indian army for rewarding an army officer who committed a grave human rights violation by tying him on the bonnet of an army jeep with his hands and legs tied with a rope.

In contrast to this more than dozen incidents have been reported in South kashmir districts of Kashmir valley in the recent weeks where militants managed to gave slip to the security forces and breached tight cordon as local residents stepped out of their houses and pelted stones on the security forces to divert their attention.

With increasing incidents of stone pelting near encounter sites and during search and cordon operations the entire security grid in kashmir valley have designed new standard operating procedures for their men on ground zero.

On several occasions the local residents were instigated by the separatist leaders to prevent smooth entry of security forces in thickly populated areas to give advantage to the hiding militants to escape to safety.

To effectively counter this move when Indian army deployed huge numbers on ground zero and launched door to door search operations again eye brows were raised over excessive use of force.

No one in Kashmir Valley is against the use of Human Shields by the Militants?

No one in the kashmir valley especially mainstream politicians and separatist leaders have raised their voice against militants for using local residents as ‘human shields’ and pitching them in front of security forces to escape from their safe hideouts.

The army authorities and top brass of the para military forces view it seriously as it is regularly hampering anti terrorist operations and directly helping them in escaping the tight cordon.

Even advance warnings issued by the Army Chief were not taken seriously by the local residents when he had warned them against helping terrorists.

Trend started after the killing of Burhan Wani?

This dangerous trend started in the aftermath of killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in July 2016.

Initially the security forces faced numerous hardships while tackling the situation. This was so because during operations the army units were accompanied by the special operations group (SOG) personnel of the state police. The law and order component involving para military forces and jawans of state police were not rushed to the spot to tackle such situations.

With increasing incidents of stone pelting near encounter sites and during search and cordon operations the entire security grid in kashmir valley have designed new standard operating procedures for their men on ground zero.

General Officer in Command of Srinagar based 15 corps Lt Gen JS Sandhu told TV reporters in different interviews, “we are now responding to the situation by having law and order components with them”.

“We are doing this to avoid any collateral damage. We don’t want to compromise the safety and security of our own troops”. Separatists and other anti national forces have been working towards pitching local population against the Indian army but we are fully alert. The law and order component is taking care of law and order disturbances and we are ensuring our operations are not affected by these distractions.

Isolate separatists: Jaitley

Union Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley Friday called for completely isolating separatist leadership in Kashmir valley.

In a interview to a national TV Channel when Union Minister was asked to comment whether Hurriyat should be banned to send a strong message to Anti-India brigade Arun Jaitley said, “isolation of the separatists is extremely important and that has to be a predominant national strategy”.

He said once you find that there is an environment of violence and tension going on and generated by these separatists and terrorists you find mainstream people going and wanting a dialogue with them the entire focus then shifts to these separatists as if they hold the key.

Jaitley said many of them have become irrelevant in the given situation in the valley and should not be engaged.

  1. A good and timely article.

The entire nation (barring a few ‘pseudo-liberals’) stands behind the Indian Army and law-enforcement agencies. They are NOT fighthing THEIR war with extremists and Pak agents; they are fighting OUR war.

However, motivated politicians and pseudo-liberals, because they have populated themselves in all media (barring social media) over the years, give an impression that the Indian Army and the Government are making a grave mistake of trying to win the small street battles, instead of winning the hearts of people. We need to defind the word ‘people’ before accepting such mischievous comments.

Articles like this are required in their dozens to correct mis-projections by interested quarters.

    May your tribe increase.
