A packed nightlife venue in Bangkok turned into a death trap after a fast-moving fire triggered panic
A devastating fire tore through a crowded pub in Bangkok, Thailand, late Sunday night, killing at least 27 people and leaving dozens injured in one of the country’s deadliest nightlife tragedies in recent years. Dramatic videos from the scene captured terrified patrons running for their lives as flames and thick smoke engulfed the building.
The blaze broke out at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district shortly before midnight. Firefighters battled intense flames and dense smoke before bringing the fire under control, while rescue teams searched the charred building for survivors.

Preliminary probe points to electrical fault
Initial investigations indicate the fire may have originated near the stage after smoke was seen emerging from an electrical circuit or ceiling-mounted air-conditioning unit, followed by an explosion and power outage. However, officials have said the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed forensic investigation.
Authorities are also examining whether blocked emergency exits and potential fire safety violations contributed to the high death toll.
Investigation underway
Thailand’s government has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, including inspections of the building’s fire safety measures, emergency exits and licensing compliance.
The tragedy has once again raised concerns over fire safety standards at entertainment venues across the country, recalling similar deadly nightclub fires in Thailand’s past.
