Bharat for Israel but Khalistani for Hamas – Why?

Shocking! Separatist Khalistani Sikhs support Hamas

Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed in a tweet (see below) that Bharat stands firmly with Israel, condemning, “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.” Bharat has suffered numerous acts of cross-border terrorism perpetrated by its neighbor harboring terrorists. Bharat’s foreign policy is consistent in seeking a total ban on cross-border terrorism.

A quick analysis of terrorist attacks since 9/11 in the United States, a similar attack in Mumbai, and many more around the world, large or small, shows that the radicalized people of the Islamic faith conducted most such despicable acts. Is Islam a religion of peace? It does not warrant much discussion with the current situation in Israel.

The recent barbaric and inhuman attack by Hamas on the Jewish people is heart-wrenching. Understandably, Hamas, a group of radicalized Muslims, may want to regain their territory from Israel. Unfortunately, they resorted to acts of terrorism and extreme violence for territorial disputes rather than sitting across the table and talking. They have indiscriminately killed more than 1,000 men, women, and children in addition to holding many more hostages. The atrocities committed by Hamas are characterized as “savage” since the holocaust of Jews. Hamas is listed as one of the terrorist organizations by the U.S. Department of State.

What is surprising, even shocking, is that the separatist Khalistani Sikhs are supporting Hamas. They are holding placards with slogans like, “Sikhs for Palestine; Palestinian Lives Matter; Children of Gaza, God bless you; Sikhs for an Azad Palestine – Freedom from slavery….” The photo circulated on social media did not offer details but it appears to be outside Bharat. It is most likely in Canada which has been harboring a large group of Sikhs (outside Bharat) with strong links and sympathy for the Khalistan movement.

Canada had a recent feud with Bharat when Prime Minister Trudeau made an irresponsible statement in the parliament. He accused the Government of Bharat of being involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Bharat characterized the accusation as “absurd” and responded very fittingly in a diplomatic manner. Bharat stopped issuing visas to Canadians, started to cancel OCI cards of suspected Khalistan supporters, and asked Canada to withdraw dozens of its diplomatic staff to bring parity with India’s missions in Canada. It must be underscored that Nijjar was wanted in India for his terrorist activities but the Canadian government sat on the request to hand over him.

The questions are: Why Khalistani are demonstrating for Palestine cause and what is common with radicalized Islamists like Hamas? First of all, let me reiterate that those demonstrating do not represent the larger Sikh community of Bharat. Those standing with Hamas are likely radicalized with a mission to oppose Bharat, its policy, and current leadership to seek a separate Khalistan. They are opportunists and mistakenly see Hamas as their “ideal” who are terrorizing Jews for their territorial issues. These Khalistani assume that they can do similar acts of terrorism in Bharat to realize their dream of a separate Khalistan territory. How mistaken and absurd is their thinking?

One wonders if the recent instructions from the director of journalistic standards, George Achi, of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is adding fuel to the fire and encouraging Khalistani support for Hamas[1]. He has directed journalists not to use the term “terrorists” when reporting on Hamas’ deadly attacks against Israeli forces and civilians[2]. By all accounts, Khalistan supporters abroad including Canada, are radicalized by the anti-Bharat elements in neighboring Pakistan and the misguided leaders like Trudeau of Canada. Bharat must remain vigilant of such rogues within its borders and beyond.

Support by individuals of Islam faith, such as students at Aligarh Muslim University and the members of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (https://aimplb.org/), for Hamas, is troubling and unjustifiable but understandable[3]. How can they be harboring anti-Bharat sentiments and activities where they live and derive more than their fair share of social benefits? The grand old political party Congress, on the verge of disintegration and disappearance, has always appeased Muslims and thus they now resort to anti-Bharat and anti-Hindu causes.

Radicalized Muslims in Bharat have terrorized Hindus wherever and whenever they get a chance. Unfortunately, the radicalized people of the Islamic faith want their domination of Hindus similar to the barbaric acts of their ruling ancestors for centuries. There is no question that they want to get rid of Sanatan Dharma, Hindus, and the institutions of the Hindu faith. How unfortunate that even some born Hindus not practicing Dharmic values have called for dismantling Sanatan Dharma. Fortunately for practicing Hindus, their dream will never come to fruition, particularly, with Modi and Yogi creating and firmly establishing a Hindu renaissance in today’s Bharat.

Anyone of the Hindu faith does not have a stomach for even one untimely death. With that belief, this author condemns the acts of violence and terrorism by Hamas against humanity. The self-respecting, hardworking, and proud Jews in Israel have every right to protect themselves and their country against the belligerent attacks by Hamas and that is what is happening on the ground as we write. Let us hope and pray that Israel stops the large-scale war soon to minimize the death and destruction of those who support Hamas and other anti-Jewish groups anywhere.

May our Sikh brothers, gone astray from their faith and bravery, supporting the separatist movement like Khalistan seek refuge in their Guru and give up violence and acts of terrorism. The united Bharat belongs to them as much as anyone else. Let us hope that sanity and wisdom prevail for peace and harmony among people of all faiths.

The Ukraine-Russia conflict was already becoming unsustainable and now an “all-out” war by Israel against Hamas in Gaza and other anti-Jewish establishments in the region
will make the world very fragile.
