AAP faces backlash from the family of Bhagat Singh for comparing Sisodia with the Legend
After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) compared Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia with freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, it faced flak from Bhagat Singh’s family calling for the statement to be withdrawn.
AAP’s remarks have sparked outrage amongst several political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. Both parties have slammed AAP for the comparison.
Soon after CBI summoned Sisodia for questioning, a number of top AAP leaders attacked the Modi government and claimed that Sisodia was being framed in a false case to prevent him from campaigning in Gujarat.
While posting their tweets with the hashtag ‘Modi arrests Manish Sisodia, the AAP leaders compared the Deputy Minister with Bhagat Singh.
As per reports from Times Now, Harbhajan S Dhatt, kin of Bhagat Singh said that while Bhagat Singh fought against the British system for the freedom of the country, AAP ministers are fighting for power and for political gains.
“This is an insult to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters. How can he compare Sisodia and Satyendar Jain to Singh? Arvind Kejriwal should withdraw the statement,” Harbhajan S Dhatt
BJP leader Sambit Patra, said, “Earlier Kejriwal said that Satyender Jain should be given Bharat Ratna and now he is comparing Sisodia with Bhagat Singh. Arvind Kejriwal should apologize for comparing the figure of Bhagat Singh with a man who is distributing liquor contracts in Delhi.”
While the Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said, “No individual can ever match the sacrifice and commitment of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Ji. At the young age of 23, He gave his life for the motherland. Comparison of corruption accused Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia with Bhagat Singh Ji by Arvind Kejriwal is unfortunate.”
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Jail bars and hanging noose could not deter Bhagat Singh’s lofty intentions. “This is the second fight for freedom. Manish and Satyendra (Jain, who is in jail in a money laundering case) are today’s Bhagat Singh. After 75 years, the country got an education minister who gave good education to the poor and gave hope for a bright future. Prayers of crores of poor are with you.”
