Congress claims one-third of total consumers in whose name unaudited subsidies were given do not even exist

Congress leaders former MP Ajay Maken and ex-power ministers Haroon Yusuf and Narender Nath submitted a memorandum to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena alleging that an electricity subsidy scam to the tune of Rs.5000 crore took place under the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government.

Congress claimed that Delhi is the only state in the country where unaudited and unchecked subsidy is directly granted to private DISCOMS going against AAP’s promise in its 2015 election manifesto. According to the party, this subsidy amounted to Rs.14,731 crore.

Congress alleged that one-third of the total consumers in whose name unaudited subsidies were given does not even exist, it called for direct benefit transfer of subsidies to people.

The Congress demanded a CBI probe into this purported scam and the appointment of private persons including the son of AAP’s treasurer on the board of power distribution companies as the Delhi government’s representatives.

Earlier, the Congress party also demanded a narco test for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, incarcerated Minister Satyendar Jain, and Sukesh Chandrasekhar against the allegations made by conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar in his letters to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena had leveled allegations against AAP and its leaders. He claimed to have paid Rs.10 crore to Jain and Rs.12.50 crore to Goel as ‘protection money’. He also claimed that he handed over Rs.50 crore to Jain at Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot’s farmhouse in 2016. Chandrasekhar added that Kejriwal and Jain attended his dinner party at the Hyatt Regency hotel, Bhikaji Cama Place subsequently.

Ajoy Kumar, AICC in-charge for Delhi, Sikkim, Tripura, and Nagaland told the media that this is necessary as a serious allegation has been made against a sitting CM in writing.
