
Himachal Pradesh flash flood havoc
A heavy downpour on Thursday led to severe damage to both public and private property in Himachal Pradesh’s many districts including Kullu. The intense rainfall triggered a flash flood downstream in the Beas River, affecting areas from Palchan to Patlikuhal.
Seeing the rising waters, people living on the river banks in Nehrukund, Bahang, Rangdi, Aloo Ground, Kalath, 17 Mile, 15 Mile, and Patlikuhal fled from their homes. The road in Palchan has been damaged.
Officials reported that several bridges in Palchan and Nehrukund were damaged by the flooding. Additionally, a newly constructed vegetable market building in Kullu collapsed as a result of the deluge. The National Highway connecting Kullu and Manali has been disrupted due to flooding near Kalath.
Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported in the Kullu and Mandi districts as of now. Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage and working to address the impact on transportation and infrastructure.

The Manali-Leh road has been closed due to massive landslides. The Manali administration remained busy throughout the night alerting people.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (Manali) Raman Sharma told the media that the police personnel kept alerting the people living on the river banks by sounding sirens throughout the night. He urged people to leave their homes only in case of emergency and not to travel.
Several are feared dead and over 40 went missing after multiple cloudbursts hit parts of Shimla and Mandi districts, following overnight incessant rains.
The natural calamity struck Shimla’s Samej Khad area at around 1 am.
Another incident of cloudburst has been reported in Mandi’s Thaltukhod, Padhar subdivision. According to Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Singh Negi, 8 people are still missing.
As per police officials, houses have been damaged in the disaster and the district administration and NDRF team have left for the spot.
Further, road connectivity has been hampered in the affected areas. According to the state’s revenue minister Jagat Singh Negi, four motorable bridges and footbridges have been washed away and rescue operations are going on in full swing also the apple crop has been damaged.
