Former cop Gagandeep Singh identified as the man behind Ludhiana Court blast
In a shocking revelation, the man behind the Ludhiana bomb blast has been identified as former cop Gagandeep Singh. Though his body was disfigured in the blast, his family identified it with the help of his tattoo.
The investigating agencies suspect Khalistan’s angle to the Ludhiana Court complex blast.
The NIA and Punjab Police suspect that Gagandeep was taking information from someone online about assembling and activating the bomb. According to sources, Gagandeep’s mobile phone exploded at the time of the blast. He had an internet dongle through which he was using the internet.
Ludhiana Police Commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar confirmed that there could be an angle of suicide bombing in the blast that claimed two lives and injured six others.
Bhullar said, “Yesterday at 12:22, we received a call that there was an explosion on the second floor of the judicial complex. It was a public toilet for men, and adjacent to that was the old record room. We immediately rushed there and cordoned off the area. When we saw the scene of the crime, my team and I could make out that probably the person who was handling it had been blown off. It seems like the bomb exploded when the person was trying to assemble it.”
Gagandeep was earlier caught in a drugs case (NDPS ACT) and was prisoned for the same. He was then the head constable and was dismissed from service in 2019.
The explosion took place on the second floor in a washroom of the District sessions court on Thursday.
