Israeli missiles strike site in Iran

According to a news report, Israeli missiles hit a site in Iran late on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars news agency reported that the explosions were heard at an airport in the Iranian city of Isfahan, but the cause has not been identified immediately.

As per reports, Iran fired air defence batteries after the explosion. However, several flights were diverted over Iranian airspace due to the missiles hit, Reuters reported.

Israel had said it would retaliate against Iran’s attack, in which it fired hundreds of drones and missiles in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its embassy compound in Syria. Most of the Iranian drones and missiles were downed before reaching Israeli territory.

Iran’s action against Israel left the international community on edge, seeking to avert an escalation of conflict in the volatile Middle East region.

In the wake of Iran’s missile and drone assault on Israel, the European Union leaders have agreed to intensify sanctions against Iran, on Wednesday.

The EU decision was taken in the Brussels summit scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, originally meant to focus on the bloc’s economy and its competitiveness. But rising tensions in the Middle East pushed the economic discussion into the second day’s agenda.

The EU leadership collectively denounced Iran’s aggressive actions, reaffirmed their unwavering support for Israel’s security, and urged all involved parties to de-escalate tensions, particularly in Lebanon.

Iran told the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that Israel must be compelled to stop any further military adventurism against our interests. The U.N. secretary-general warned that the Middle East was in a “moment of maximum peril.”
