Stamped, Burned, and Silenced: Unimaginable Torture of Kerala Toddler Sparks Outrage
A detailed post-mortem report into the horrific murder of a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler in Kerala has exposed a pattern of systematic, sadistic torture, revealing an astonishing 91 distinct injuries on the child’s tiny body.
The victim, identified as Arshid, was brutally beaten to death in the Panavoor area of Nedumangad, approximately 20 kilometers from the state capital. Police investigation has established that the toddler was subjected to sustained, unimaginable physical abuse at the hands of Ashkar, the live-in partner of the child’s mother.
Cruel and Repeated Torture Exposed
According to forensic medical experts, the official cause of death was severe, blunt-force trauma to the chest and head. Of the 91 recorded injuries, the post-mortem detailed seven fractured ribs, massive internal organ damage, and substantial swelling and bleeding inside the skull. Investigators state that the catastrophic rib fractures were likely caused when Ashkar violently stamped on the toddler’s chest.
Further adding to the cruelty, the medical report documented deliberate burn injuries on the child’s genitals and the sole of his right foot, which were allegedly inflicted using a cigarette lighter.
Police revealed that the physical abuse had been ongoing for at least a month. During a formal interrogation on Monday, Ashkar confessed to the crime, coldly revealing that he had decided to murder the toddler three months ago because he viewed the child as an “obstacle” to his relationship with the mother. He admitted to routinely thrashing the baby and stuffing cloth into his mouth to muffle his screams.
A History of Concealed Abuse
The systematic nature of the abuse had manifested publicly weeks before the murder. Nearly a month prior to the fatal incident, the toddler was seen with heavy plaster casts on both arms. When neighbors questioned the injuries, Ashkar dismissed it as an accident, claiming the child had fallen from a bicycle.
This exact cover story was repeated on May 16—two weeks before the killing—when Arshid and his mother, 21-year-old Akhila, met a digital content creator at a local bus stand after winning a giveaway for following his Instagram account. In a photograph captured by the influencer, the child is clearly visible with both arms wrapped in plaster. When the content creator inquired about the casts, Akhila echoed her lover’s claim, stating the baby had merely fallen off a bicycle.
A History of Domestic Violence
Beyond this immediate case, investigators are also probing shocking allegations that Ashkar had previously assaulted his first wife, Amina, so brutally that she was left permanently physically disabled.
Strict Legal Charges and Complicity
The deception collapsed on May 29, when the toddler began crying loudly. Ashkar delivered a fatal strike to the child’s head. After confirming the boy was dead, Ashkar methodically cleaned the crime scene and destroyed physical evidence before transporting the lifeless toddler to a nearby hospital, where he falsely told medical staff that the child had choked on food.
The police have taken a severe stance on the atrocity, invoking provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the prime accused, Ashkar.
Furthermore, the child’s mother is facing legal retribution. In a formal statement to the police, Akhila admitted that she was fully aware of the prolonged, horrific assault and had witnessed her live-in partner beat her son on multiple occasions, yet made absolutely no effort to intervene or protect her child. Consequently, investigators have indicated that stringent charges of abetment to murder will be formally added against Akhila for her criminal complicity.
