Investigators recreate the sequence of events at Lohagad Fort as police continue to probe the alleged conspiracy behind Ketan Agarwal’s death

The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal entered a crucial phase on Sunday, with police taking prime accused Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort to recreate the crime scene nearly 10 days after the incident.

The reconstruction exercise is aimed at helping investigators establish the exact sequence of events that led to Agarwal’s death on June 18. According to police, Goyal, 20, and her alleged accomplice Chetan Chaudhary, 22, have been accused of conspiring to push Agarwal off the fort.

    Police reconstruct sequence of events

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said the accused was taken to the exact location where the incident occurred.

“The accused have been taken to the Lohagad Fort, specifically to the spot where the incident occurred, to recreate the scene. The entire sequence of events is being reconstructed: the route taken, where the accused positioned themselves, the specific actions performed, and how the incident unfolded. The accused has provided details regarding this,” Gill told ANI.

Officials said the exercise would help investigators verify the statements made by the accused and establish how the alleged murder was carried out.

A senior Pune Rural Police official said Siya Goyal was taken to the precise spot from where Agarwal was allegedly pushed.

“Siya was taken to the spot at Lohagad Fort from where she, along with Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly pushed Agarwal to death. Chetan will be taken to the fort separately,” the official said.

The entire reconstruction is being video-recorded as investigators examine the movements of both accused before, during and after the incident.

    Investigators examine key evidence

According to police, investigators are recreating the complete chain of events, including the route taken by the accused, their positions at the crime scene and the sequence in which the alleged assault took place.

Police are also examining claims that Goyal allegedly signalled Chaudhary before the attack and are verifying whether Chaudhary followed the couple to the fort without purchasing an entry ticket.

To facilitate the reconstruction exercise, authorities temporarily closed Lohagad Fort to visitors and deployed security personnel across the area.

    Probe widens

The two accused were arrested after police alleged they had conspired to kill Agarwal. Investigators claim Goyal told police she did not wish to marry Agarwal and feared cancelling the wedding would bring disrepute to her family.

The investigation is also focusing on the alleged planning of the crime, the movements of the accused before and after the incident, their digital footprint and the motive behind the alleged murder.

On Saturday, police questioned Goyal’s parents, Pravin and Puja Goyal, along with her brother Sahil, at the Lonavala Rural Police Station. Officials said the family remained at the police station for nearly 12 hours while their statements were recorded.

    Family seeks justice

Meanwhile, residents of Gahunje, where Agarwal’s family resides, organised a candlelight march demanding justice.

Ketan Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, appealed to people who were present at Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident to assist the investigation.

“We will continue to fight until we get justice for our son,” he said.

He further urged eyewitnesses to approach the police, saying, “Some people are messaging us, saying they were present at the fort, but they are not approaching the police. I urge all of them to come forward and help us get justice for Ketan. I assure them they will not face any problems.”

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, with forensic evidence, witness statements and the crime scene reconstruction expected to play a key role in establishing the events surrounding the murder.
