Chilling confirmation in Mangaluru blast
Mangaluru blast: Police have identified the accused as Shareeq and taken him into custody for grilling. Shareeq was the same person who had conducted trial blasts in Shivamogga. The accused Shareeq is extremely radicalized and was out on bail at the time of the incident.
A 5-member National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Mangaluru to probe the auto explosion. Police sources confirmed that a Coimbatore link has emerged in the Mangaluru blast.
Earlier, Shareeq was arrested for painting pro-terrorism graffiti in Mangaluru and was jailed under UAPA, but was released on bail on technical grounds. Notably, He had connections with Al-Hind, a terror outfit influenced by ISIS,” a senior police official confirmed.
The Karnataka DGP confirmed that the passenger was holding a fake Aadhar card, while the autorickshaw driver had no hand in the incident. The passenger of the autorickshaw, named Prem Raj has already been arrested.
The explosion that took place inside a moving autorickshaw in Karnataka’s Managluru on Saturday was no accident but an ‘act of terror’ the Karnataka police confirmed on Sunday. The driver and passenger of the rickshaw suffered burn injuries when a pressure cooker bomb went off in the rikshaw.
