Novel methods of bilateral relations between Egypt and India. For January 26, Republic Day chief guest Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is being asked to bring a huge contingent of Egyptian military drawn from the Egypt Army, and Egypt airforce with top security personnel. So that the bilateral visit is successful in garnering the support of Egypt. In total 200 higher-ranking officials of the Egyptian army have reached New Delhi. A detailed schedule for joint exercises is ready, for 2023 and 2024. The Egyptian delegations in separate aircrafts have reached New Delhi. 12 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is ready for approval. These MoU will include agriculture and in particular cyber security.

Egypt has also been invited as a special guest for India’s G20 Summit.

Eighteen areas of interest have been identified by the Modi government to deal with Egypt. Agriculture, civil aviation, and more to focus on growing security and counter-terror partnership, with Egypt seeking support in capacity building, cyber security, and border management from India to thwart extremism and terrorism, sources said, adding, special focus is being given to information sharing. Space sector cooperation is also in the pipeline with New Delhi planning to assist Cairo in space vehicle launches. Why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was particular about the Egyptian leader being part of Amrit Kaal celebrations? The answer is that Modi is keen to keep Indian neighbours at arm’s length. Sisi the Egyptian President has been too vocal on 370 minus Kashmir. Egypt in international fora has been supportive of India. Its relations with Pakistan is well known.
Egypt, which houses the headquarters of the Arab League, is an important player in the Arab world and has not backed Pakistan’s machinations on Kashmir in OIC in recent years.
