TCS Nashik employee alleges isolation, harassment; probe underway
A woman employee of Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik has alleged workplace harassment, claiming she was isolated and her personal belongings were confiscated as part of a broader pattern of targeting employees.
Speaking to NDTV, the employee said she was assigned to work alone on a rooftop away from the main office premises.
“I was made to work alone on the rooftop, and my phone and bag were snatched,” she told NDTV. “Whenever I came downstairs to use the washroom or for other purposes, my mobile phone, bag, and all personal belongings were confiscated under the pretext of security or other excuses.”
Allegations of targeted exploitation
The employee alleged that young women were being specifically targeted.
“We have seen that many of the young employees who work in the company were being exploited. They were being brainwashed,” she said.
“They thought that it would be easy to trap them. If you have any complaints, then you go to your HR. But here, even the HR was scared,” she added. “Thank God I survived otherwise, the same thing would have happened to me today.”
Multiple complaints, police investigation
Police in Nashik said they are investigating multiple complaints of mental and sexual harassment linked to the office. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed.
Several employees have been arrested in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also examining allegations of coercion, inappropriate conduct and workplace intimidation.
Additional testimonies surface
A contractual employee also alleged coercive behaviour in the workplace.
“They used to say, ‘Go make Hindu girls your girlfriends and marry them’. They used to say ‘convert your religion‘ and used to talk about their religion. They were also given money. It was ongoing since 2021. The HR madam was also funded.”
Company action and ongoing probe
All accused employees have been suspended by the company. Police said they are analysing evidence and statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials added that further action will depend on the findings of the probe.
