January 10 recorded as busiest day with over 7,300 passengers
Adani Group-backed Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on Thursday announced that it has crossed the 1-lakh passenger milestone within just 19 days of commencing commercial flight operations. As of January 12, the airport handled a total of 1,09,917 passengers, including 55,934 arrivals and 53,983 departures, reflecting strong early traction and growing travel demand from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
According to Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), January 10 emerged as the busiest day so far, with 7,345 passengers travelling through the facility. Since operations began on December 25 last year, the airport has managed 734 air traffic movements, including 32 general aviation flights, while processing over 79,000 pieces of baggage across arrivals and departures.
The airport has also begun cargo operations on a steady note, handling 22.21 tonnes of cargo during the same period, underscoring its integrated passenger and freight capabilities from the outset. Delhi, Goa, and Bengaluru have emerged as the most connected sectors so far.
With an initial capacity of 20 million passengers annually, NMIA said it is scaling up services in a calibrated manner, backed by modern infrastructure, streamlined processes, and a focus on operational efficiency.
