  • National Investigative Agency (NIA) working hard to nail Pakistan in Pulwama attack case
  • RDX may have been smuggled via road link to Kashmir in a truck
  • Over Ground Worker (OGW)’s of JeM on NIA radar

Over 20 suspects, having links with a local cadre of JeM, have been questioned by the NIA to collect more corroborative evidence required to nail Pakistan

After collecting the material evidence from the site of Pulwama attack, which killed 40 CRPF personnel on February 14, National Investigation Team (NIA) is now focusing all its energies to ‘uncover’ the plot hatched by the handlers of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kakapora.

During their investigation, a truck driver and his caretaker had revealed that more than 20 infiltrators were ferried by them in small batches before being caught.

The NIA sleuths are also searching for answers on how and who transported/supplied huge quantity of explosive material and fabricated the SUV for the big strike in Kashmir valley.

Since, forensic experts have concluded that the explosive used in the blast was RDX the NIA investigators are now searching for overground workers, if any, who ferried RDX to Kashmir valley.

Intelligence agencies claimed the possibility that the same was smuggled into Kashmir valley via road from Jammu cannot be ruled out.

So far no links have emerged to suggest that the explosive was purchased or supplied by some local over ground worker to these men from Kashmir valley.

Last year, when security forces had foiled terror strike near Jhajjar Kotli area along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in September 2018 it was revealed that the truck operators from different parts of Kashmir were ferrying infiltrators from Jammu to Kashmir in their trucks inlieu of money.

During their investigation, a truck driver and his caretaker had revealed that more than 20 infiltrators were ferried by them in small batches before being caught.

According to police the arrested driver and his accomplice were identified as Riaz Ahmad son of Ghulam Ahmad R/o Hajin, Pulwama and Mohammad Iqbal son of Abdul Khaliq R/o Pakharpora, Budgam, a BSc Nursing student. Brother of Riaz was also a terrorist and had been killed in an encounter with the security forces. Official sources revealed they were both working as OGW’s of Jaish-e- Mohammad terrorist outfit.

The possibility that the same module could have smuggled RDX material around the same time to allow JeM handlers enough time to fabricate the vehicle ahead of the attack cannot be ruled out.

The NIA is expected to interrogate both the truck driver and the caretaker to join the dots.

So far over 20 suspects, having links with local cadre of JeM, have been questioned by the NIA to collect more corroborative evidence required to nail Pakistan.

After taking over the probe in the matter NIA Chief YC Modi along with senior officers of the elite agency had also visited the spot to assess the ground situation.

To nail Pakistan and its spy agency ISI, NIA is desperately trying to reach out to the top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammad, including its Kashmir Chief to unravel the mystery behind the terror plot.

After the visit, he separately met army and state police officers and gathered crucial feedback from them on the basis of preliminary investigation done by them.

According to a press statement issued by the NIA spokesman, “the NIA has re-registered the case previously filed by the state police after the dastardly attack”.

For the time being, various agencies are maintaining discreet silence over any headway achieved in the investigation in the matter.

At a joint press conference on Tuesday, army, police and CRPF officers said they have got leads in this attack but would not share them with media as it will hamper the investigations.
