India, US leaders connect as Iran talks fail to progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump held a 40-minute phone conversation on Tuesday, as tensions in West Asia continue following stalled peace talks.

According to Sergio Gor, this was the third interaction between the two leaders this year and the second since the conflict escalated after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February.

During the call, Modi told Trump, “People of India love you.”

    Talks amid diplomatic deadlock

The conversation comes after recent negotiations in Islamabad failed to produce a breakthrough, leaving the situation in a temporary stalemate.

While a fragile ceasefire remains in place, both sides have yet to reach a consensus on key issues.

    Ongoing engagement

This marks the third exchange between the two leaders in 2026. They had previously spoken in February regarding a potential trade agreement, and again in March to discuss developments in West Asia.

Officials have not disclosed further details of the latest conversation.
