Eknath Shinde, other MLAs ‘out of reach’ after MLC polls

In a major political development, at least 11 Shiv Sena MLAs are not reachable along with Shiv Sena’s leader and urban development minister of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Eknath Shinde.

As per reports, they are camping in a luxury hotel in Gujarat’s Surat district. Two to three leaders from the National Congress Party have also joined their camp.

As the MVA government is in trouble, CM Uddhav Thackeray has called an urgent meeting of all Sena MLAs at noon today.

Speaking to the media, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Pravin Darekar said, “BJP is the largest party here, Devendra Fadnavis a popular leader. It is nobody’s property. It can see what you did in 2.5 yrs. It’s our duty to set things right. We care for Maharashtra; they care about power”.

Not ruling out the possibility of the BJP returning to power in Maharashtra, he added, “Whatever is right for the people of Maharashtra will be done. Their interest is more important than their power. If it’s needed for Maharashtra such a movement can take place”.

Earlier the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra was dealt a big blow by the BJP which succeeded in winning five out of 10 seats in the state legislative council polls though it had the votes to win only four. The Congress won only one seat, while NCP and Shiv Sena won two each.

Though MVA led by CM Uddhav Thackeray had adequate numbers to ensure the election of all six nominees, it lost one seat while BJP ensured the victory of all its five nominees, prima facie owing to large-scale cross-voting and support of independents.

After the recent Rajya Sabha polls and now the Legislative Assembly polls, former CM of Maharashtra and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis has emerged as an electoral strategy master and an unchallenged leader.

  1. The power hungry BJP will now make a deal with Shinde and few NCP members to form the Govt in Maharastra. If they have any brain and sense of shame, they should either go for president rule or for a fresh election.
