Angry Islamic mob thrashes Yoga event in Malé
While people celebrated International Yoga Day in the capital city of Malé in the Maldives, an angry extremist Islamic mob barged into the premises of Maldives national football stadium on Tuesday morning to interrupt an ongoing yoga and meditation session.
As per reports, the attendees were also threatened by the angry mob who had flags in their hands. Police intervened by releasing tear gas canisters into the field to control the angry mob before the situation had intensified into a physical altercation.
In a video shared by Siddhant Sibal, Defence Correspondent for Wion News, people attending the session could be seen running away soon after the radical mob enter the stadium. Sibal tweeted, “Dramatic visuals from Maldives as group of extremists disrupt Yoga Day celebrations organised in capital Malé.”

The yoga and meditation hour was organized by the Indian Cultural Center in association with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Maldives. Earlier, the announcement of hosting an event to commemorate International Day of Yoga faced stern criticism from some extremists who had threatened against hosting the event.
