
Rs.587 crore for India-Bangladesh rail link
The Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Thursday, the centre will provide Rs.587 Crore ($87.30 Million) for a rail project to link India and Bangladesh.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he Minister of state for development of north eastern region (DoNER) said that the project is one of the most important under the ‘Act East’ policy of the Narendra Modi government, will help boost trade, cultural and social ties between the two countries.
“The main initiative of the DoNER ministry is to provide funds for the rail link between India and Bangladesh. The budget cost of Rs.587 crore ($87.30 Million) for the Indian side will be provided by the ministry,” Singh told the media here.
The ministry has received Rs.2,400 crore ($356.97 Million) in the current fiscal compared with Rs.2,334.50 crore ($347.22 Million) in the last fiscal.
