
Badal was taken to a private hospital after the incident as police began investigating the attack
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked in Maharashtra’s Nanded on Thursday, according to preliminary reports.
Badal was attacked near a gurdwara he had visited and was subsequently rushed to a private hospital in Nanded for treatment. A security personnel deployed with Badal was also injured in the incident.
Badal had visited Takht Sri Hazur Sahib earlier in the day with his family. The exact circumstances of the attack, including the identity and motive of the assailant, are still being investigated.

Some reports said Badal suffered an injury to his arm. Further details about his condition were awaited in the initial reports.
The incident comes nearly two years after Badal survived a separate assassination attempt outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar in December 2024.
