BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has urged the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Rajiv Mehrishi to table the hushed up reports on Aircel-Maxis scam, Rajya Sabha TV audits and other defense & telecom audits by former CAG Shashi Kant Sharma. In a letter to the new CAG, Swamy accused the former CAG of several irregularities and hushing up the Aircel-Maxis scam for past three years and not tabling in Parliament.

Swamy said the new CAG should form a special audit team to look into the irregularities happened during SK Sharma’s tenure in CAG’s office.

In a two-page letter, he pointed out that former CAG Shashi Kant Sharma and his pliant officials in the CAG’s office for not tabling several reports like audits in Rajya Sabha TV channel’s funding irregularities.

“The final Audit Report of the C&AG of India on the Aircel-Maxis case is, however, pending in your office for the last 3 years. I understand that the draft Audit report of the office of Director General of Audit, Post & Telecommunications on the Aircel-Maxis case received in your office in January 2015 was kept in the suspended animation by your predecessor with the willing support of the Junior functionaries like A M Bajaj, the then PD (ESM) and PK Tiwari the then PD ( Defence & Communications).

“Both of them were rewarded for their connivance with Bajaj getting the coveted position of the Director of Audit, UN headquarters, New York and Tiwari getting relief from major Penalty proceedings recommended by the CVC for his false LTC claims and posting as DG (P&T) after irregular promotion. His role in dilution of the Audit reports of the Defence & Telecom sector during 2014-16 needs to thoroughly investigated,” said Swamy accusing former CAG Sharma of many irregularities.

Swamy said the new CAG should form a special audit team to look into the irregularities happened during SK Sharma’s tenure in CAG’s office. “I request you to kindly get all these cases re-examined by a Special team of competent officers so as to ensure that the defence audit reports were not compromised,” said Swamy.

  1. Dr. Swami is really toiling hard to bring to book all the looters of the UPA regime. But the whole legal, judiciary, bureaucracy and investigative agencies are also corrupted to the core. Add to that the stonewalling of BJP insiders like Arun Jaitley of any meaningful progress, we get nowhere. This is pathetic – it is rumoured that Jaitley is sitting on National Herald papers, Karthi Chidambaram related papers, Panama list of names stashing away billions in tax havens, Marans case related to 300 lines stealing for SUN TV from his home and many more – and we will not see anyone behind bars till 2019 elections. If BJP does not win, then all the cases would be closed without any trace. This is INDIA. Is there any out of the box solution to tackle corruption in future? Yes and that should be put in place by PGURUS. No corruption is possible without the active connivance of the IAS babus. Leave the political leaders – the real rascals who plunder – alone because they have money and people power. They will arrange for thousands of paid supporters to come on the street and once they win an election, they will claim total vindication – sham democracy of India with 30% votes to win an election. Compile a list of the most corrupt IAS, IPS officials all over India – say 100 names. Collect all information about their family members – names, where they work or study, what car they drive etc. – including parents, wife, sons, daughters, in-laws, grand children. Merely publish the names of the official (with his or her photograph) and the details of the members. Merely pose the question ‘Salary is 1 lac. Car fleet has Toyota Land Cruiser, Audi 8 etc.’ We are not accusing them of corruption but merely stating the facts. This should go viral in the social media. At the same time compile a list of 100 honest IAS / IPS officials – collect the family details – ‘Salute the family members for the spine exhibited by these honest officials’. Let this also go viral. The pressure from family members would be huge on corrupt officials (social sully). This will make all other less corrupt officials to correct themselves. Social media provides an excellent opportunity to stem the corruption of India.
