Syria, a master chess move by Russia

Syria has become the most successful military and diplomatic operation by Russia in today’s time and it has the potential to build greater peace in that region

The world knows the chess process of Russian Chess Grandmasters. This time they played on a war zone of Syria. A calculated Russian adventure in Syria has deeper positive ramifications for the world. The Russian leadership has somehow catapulted themselves back in the world reckoning in a very positive way. They have presented themselves as a positive alternative to mindless warmongering on fake pretexts by some countries.

Reshaping of the Political landscape in middle-east will protect their Interests and also thwart ideology driven wars that have repeatedly put the world in danger through state-sponsored terrorism

Let’s analyze what it has achieved for Russia.

  • Increased arm sales
  • A credible alternative to unilateral hegemonistic agendas
  • Control of Trade
  • Positive standing in the world community
  • Making UN a multilateral agency
  • A greater diplomatic bargaining power

Militarily, Russia has proved that they have come of age and their weapon systems are more advanced than anyone could have ever thought. The quality and precision of their strikes have left no doubt in the minds of military planners, that Russia is no longer a military pushover. Their controlled use of their military assets has displayed a capability that has scared many of their opponents and pushed them to self-analysis. Be it firing missiles from their controlled seas to military precision airstrikes that broke the back of ISIS, they have shown with ease their prowess and dependability of their systems.

Diplomatically, they have achieved much more than their controlled military operations. They are now sitting on bargaining tables across the middle-east. Perhaps, this is the first time ever that Russia appears to be on the right side of history after world-war II. They are being viewed as non-intrusive, non-partisan global power that can help world resolve complex issues persisting since colonial imperialism. The world is now looking towards Russia to do the balancing act to protect UN charter and also to engage the world in fighting terrorism arising from misplaced ideologies.

Their masterstroke in Syria will bring rich dividends in middle east region in terms of peace for a small section of middle-east. It will also create an economy that will sustain Russian industrial complex for a long time to come. Reshaping of the Political landscape in middle-east will protect their Interests and also thwart ideology driven wars that have repeatedly put the world in danger through state-sponsored terrorism.

What Russia can do next:

  • Build economic zones for Free trade
  • Remove ideology driven racist policies
  • Involve India and China as potential investors in that region
  • Stem terrorist ideologies
  • Anti Terror pact to ensure that no more terrorist ideologies are exported from middle-east
  • Setting up a Terror Watchdog by involving countries such as Israel, India and China who have the biggest stake in middle-east peace

Syria has become the most successful military and diplomatic operation by Russia in today’s time and it has the potential to build greater peace in that region. Most of the future policies by different state actors will take cognizance of this Russian success for a long time to come.

  1. Excellent article Mr. Satsangi

Indian people know very little about Syria except what is fed to them by left/jihadi leaning journalists from the western media (BBC, CNN, etc)

The world doesn’t know or doesn’t want to know that USA, even after Trump was elected POTUS, has sided with the rebels in Syria against Assad.
These ‘rebels’ are no other than various assortments of ISIS, Al-Qaeda, etc; those very elements USA is supposedly fighting against in Afghanistan/Iraq.

The entire US foreign policy even after Trump came to power has been dominated by left/jehadi leaning mandarins.

By blindly opposing Putin in Russia, the USA has learnt nothing despite repeated debacles in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, etc where US sided with so called good jehadis against bad jehadis.

Full kudos to President Putin for standing his ground, being with his friends in their hour of need and teaching a lesson to morally, financially and politically bankrupt America.
