UP CM appealed for restraint, backed the SIT investigation and accused the Congress and Samajwadi Party of hypocrisy over Ayodhya and the Ram Temple movement

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday issued a strong warning over the controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, asserting that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.

Speaking during his visit to Ayodhya, Yogi Adityanath appealed to the public to remain patient and avoid making statements that could hurt the sentiments of Ram devotees.

Whoever the culprit is, will not be spared,” the chief minister said, expressing confidence in the ongoing investigation being conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

    SIT probe underway

Yogi Adityanath said the SIT was constituted at the request of the Ram Temple Trust and urged individuals possessing documentary evidence to submit it to the investigating team.

He said the inquiry would establish the facts and ensure complete transparency in the matter.

The chief minister also called upon devotees to uphold the values of dignity, patience and restraint associated with Lord Ram, while cautioning against attempts to tarnish the image of Ayodhya and the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

Congress, SP targeted over Ram Temple issue

Launching a political attack on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, Adityanath accused both parties of maintaining double standards on issues related to Lord Ram and Ayodhya.

The chief minister alleged that the Congress had opposed the construction of the Ram Temple and even questioned the existence of Lord Ram in court proceedings.

“The same Congress party that tried every possible way to stop the construction of the Ram Temple is now pretending to be concerned about Ayodhya,” he said.

Adityanath also criticised the Samajwadi Party, alleging that it was responsible for action against kar sevaks during the Ram Temple movement.

“These are the same people who ordered firing on kar sevaks and used force against devotees chanting Jai Shri Ram. Today they are trying to lecture others,” he said.

    How the controversy began

The donation controversy surfaced earlier this month after Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav claimed that reports suggested crores of rupees in temple donations were unaccounted for.

He had urged the judiciary to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and seek an independent probe.

The Ram Temple Trust has denied any wrongdoing and requested an impartial investigation into the allegations.

    Investigation continues

Following the controversy, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team to examine the claims.

The SIT has been questioning several individuals and reviewing relevant records as part of its ongoing inquiry.

Officials have indicated that the investigation is progressing and that all aspects of the allegations are being examined.
