An unhappy Subhash Chandra
Media baron Subhash Chandra’s recent claims about “press freedom” show that he is not happy with the Modi government. Recently many pro-BJP journalists have left Zee TV and the market buzz is that Subhash Chandra, who is a pro-right winger, is not in the good books of the government. Subhash Chandra for the past six years has faced all kinds of financial problems and insolvency cases and feels that not enough help is received from the Modi government.
No second term for Subhash Chandra in RS
BJP did not give a second term to Subhash Chandra in the Rajya Sabha. Many feel the latest trigger of Subhash Chandra’s unhappiness is due to BJP allowing the entry of Congress’ former MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal and making him a candidate. Jindal and Chandra were arch rivals for the past 12 years, starting with a blackmailing case, related to the Coal Scam.
Annoyed by Naveen Jindal’s prominence in BJP
The prominence of arch-rival Naveen Jindal in BJP has literally annoyed Subhash Chandra and many say that after this, Zee Group’s media outfits have drastically cut the coverage of BJP. On May 3 – World Press Freedom Day – all of a sudden Subhash Chandra started speaking about the need for Press Freedom and India’s low ranking.
My thoughts on the #WorldPressFreedomDay.
Let’s celebrate the power of a free press in upholding democracy, promoting transparency, and safeguarding our right to information. Irony of Subhash Chandra’s press freedom speech
Why all of a sudden did Subhash Chandra think of ‘Press Freedom’, while his Zee Group was caught for all kinds of unethical practices in the media world, mainly charges of blackmailing and extortion by Naveen Jindal during the Coal Scam? Zee Group’s editors were in prison and Chandra faced questioning by probe agencies for charges of extortion on the Jindal Group.
Naveen Jindal’s entry is the main reason
Many insiders say that Subhash Chandra was so unhappy with the BJP for allowing Congress leader Naveen Jindal’s entry and making him Lok Sabha candidate on Chandra’s turf. For the past 12 years, Jindal and Chandra have even fought at the grassroots level during elections in Haryana. Chandra also feels that the Modi government did not help his business empire, which is now facing many insolvency cases and financial troubles.
Will Subhash Chandra have the nerve to take on the Modi government?
