2024 is not far away: KCR meeting Nitish Kumar; Kejriwal meeting M K Stalin
Suddenly why South Indian regional party leaders are zeroing in on North India, a novel twist in Indian politics. What is the real reason for such approaches? Whichever side you view it, from whatever angle you can, there is a complete North-South divide very much in existence.
Exactly, 15 months ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, strategies, and carving out of their influence, many leaders have begun to hop between North and South. Why so? Because of 130 strong bulk numbers of Lok Sabha seats.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi though he is an MP from Wayanad, Bharat Jodo Yatra has begun. Like KCR meeting Nitish Kumar. And Arvind Kejriwal air dashing to sell his Education Model in Tamil Nadu and to meet M K Stalin DMK chief. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Indian Naval Ship INS Vikrant in Kochi in Kerala. Home Minister Amit Shah chose Kerala to hold the Southern States council meeting. All of a sudden, the BJP thought to accommodate B S Yedurrappa in the apex body of the BJP Central Parliamentary Board. Why BJP chose to elevate the status of Tamil Nadu woman leader Vanathi Srinivasan as Chief of BJP Mahila Morcha? She does not know Hindi. Rahul Gandhi in a dramatic manner brought two warrings Congress leaders D K Shiv Kumar and Siddharamaiah and raised their hands as if they have reconciled to work together for Congress. Rahul Gandhi did the same drama of holding Navjot Singh Siddhu and Charanjit Singh Channi. But what happened after that Congress washed out in Punjab. These acts of both BJP And Congress show that both the national parties have an eagle eye on the 130 strong, chunk Lok Sabha seats in all six states. In the late 80s, tall and towering political personalities like NTR, MGR, and Jayalalitha. But now replication of such leaders in the recent past. Many were involved in the 2G or Coal scam. Even P Chidambaram UPA era finance minister charged with corruption was imprisoned by Supreme Court.
Six states in the South but a caste ridden polity
Southern parties never experienced earlier years, as such an onslaught on North Indian Parties concentrating on six states are frequently circling South. There are 6-8 castes dominating the South. The most powerful are Lingayat, Vokkaliga, Ezhavas, Gownders, Thevars, Khamma, and Reddys.
These community leaders had freedom fighters. But with the rise of regional parties against the Centre. Naturally, due to suppression, these parties were irritated with Congress and BJP.
Why Arvind Kejriwal is keen on DMK and M K Stalin?
But now BJP is zeroing in on six South States, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao visiting Patna, to discuss the 2024 Lok Sabha strategy Nitish Kumar and Tejaswi Yadav. And Aam Aadhmi Party Leader Arvind Kejriwal visited Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Why this zig-zag topsy turvy approach? Like Honeybee the BJP leaders smother in Karnataka and Telangana. Nitish Kumar is to visit Chennai to meet DMK leader M K Stalin in October. Mamata Banerjee Trinamool tried her luck in Goa, but after a flop show, she decided not to venture into the South.
Modi is popular in South
Modi’s popularity in South India has enhanced. What are the reasons for it? Eight years of clean administration at the Centre. No corruption charges. Smooth sailing of the Centre-State relationship. Unlike UPA2 where Dr. Manmohan Singh presided over the system as Prime Minster clubbed with lots of scams, bomb blasts, and communal tensions. But nothing such screaming headlines after 2014. Why Chandrababu Naidu wants to return to NDA? Interestingly in recent months, there were four meetings took place between Jagan Reddy and Narendra Modi and an equal number with Chandrababu Naidu. Does it mean that BJP has no enemy in Andhra Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha alliance? With Congress got decimated in Andhra after the split of Telangana
Space for a national party in South India
Bharatiya Janata Party is certainly growing in South India. BJP is governing in two Southern States, Karnataka and Puducherry. But at the same time, the Congress Party has lost of its base in two states, they are Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. But the popularity of Narendra Modi is certainly on the high side in South India. Especially after the second term of double engine sarkar Yogi plus Modi graph is risen like a Sputnik. BJP’s decision to go for an aggressive “Look South“ policy is certainly yielding fruits. BJP slogan is “First Telangana Next Tamil Nadu” very systematically on a monthly basis Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and J P Nadda the BJP chief are visiting all six states. More focussed on Telangana. That is why the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is politically rattled. KCR wants to eat into the base of the BJP in North India.
Variations of political parties and their ideologies differ from North India’s approaches to South Indian narratives. South Indian voters who were seen cine stars as chief ministers but in the digital world especially after Corona vaccinations, digital payment by the information technology oriented southern states students-starts up added glory during the pandemic. Modi is worshipped for this act. Also, thousands of Southern States students were safely brought from Ukraine from the war zone. Exactly a year and a half are left for the massive poll campaign for 2024. But outreach of the BJP through its social media network and also taking swiftly to the digital world, the Lok Sabha poll will certainly spring surprises from six Southern States. All thanks to the new digital platform of 5G artificial intelligence and optical fiber network unleashed in remote villages. The 2024 Lok Sabha poll and its campaign will be unique in the Southern States. The meticulous way Modi distributed Padma Awards in South India. Modi in his monthly Man ki Baath introduces many South Indian poor personas from cobblers, a tailor, hairdresser. Modi through this medium reached out to the middle class in South India. Which Congress or for that matter DMK, TRS, YSR Jagan Reddy failed to compete with Modi
Due to its cine world and glamour. Needless to say that BJP and Narendra Modi attracted youth minds to the poll campaign style in South India.
2024 is not far away.
