US says all Iranian ballistic missiles were intercepted before reaching American forces
US President Donald Trump has threatened a powerful military response after Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles towards American forces in the Middle East, warning that Tehran would face severe consequences following what he described as a surprise attack.
Speaking during a phone interview with Fox News, Trump vowed a forceful response to the missile strike, which US officials said targeted American forces stationed in the region.
“We’re going to beat the f*ing s**t of them. We’ll be hitting them hard. They’re going to get a beating,” Trump said.
US says all missiles were intercepted
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iranian territory late Tuesday in what it described as an “attempted surprise attack” on US forces.
Although CENTCOM did not officially identify the target, US media reports said the missiles were aimed at an American military base in Jordan.
The US military said its air defence systems intercepted every incoming missile before any could strike the base.
Trump calls attack a surprise strike
Trump said American troops had only a few minutes to react after detecting the incoming missiles.
Describing the operation, he said US personnel tracked the missiles in real time and successfully destroyed them before impact.
According to the President, none of the Iranian missiles penetrated the US missile defence shield.
Pressure on Iran to continue
Trump also defended recent joint US-Saudi military operations against Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq, describing the militias as a “cancer on the world.”
He signalled that Washington would continue targeting Iran-backed groups operating across the region.
Diplomacy to continue
Despite his tough rhetoric, Trump said the United States would continue diplomatic engagement with Tehran.
He indicated that negotiations with Iran would remain on track even as military tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
