Swati Maliwal claims CCTV tampering at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence amid controversy
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has alleged that the CCTV cameras installed at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal‘s residence were being tampered with.
Tagging Delhi Police, Swati Maliwal posted on X on Friday evening, “I have received information that now these people are tampering with the CCTV of the house.”
Earlier, a team of Delhi Police, led by Additional DCP Delhi North, Civil Lines Police Station SHO, and a team of forensic officials, arrived at the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday evening for scene recreation. Maliwal was also called there as part of the investigation into the alleged assault on her.
The team departed from the Chief Minister’s residence at around 2.15 am on Saturday after investigation and videography of the premises.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar filed a written complaint against Maliwal, alleging unauthorized entry, verbal abuse, and threats.
Notably, the Vigilance Department had last month terminated the service of Bibhav Kumar, personal assistant (PA) to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, over a pending criminal case.
On Monday Delhi Police – which has filed a case against Bibhav Kumar based on a statement provided by Maliwal – said it had received two calls from within Kejriwal’s residence. The cops said the phone number was registered to Maliwal but the caller did not identify themselves.
Earlier, Maliwal recorded her statement before the Tis Hazari court in Delhi in connection with the alleged assault on her at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence.
Metropolitan magistrate Katyayini Sharma Kandwal recorded Maliwal’s statement in her chambers. Under section 164 CrPC, a judicial magistrate is empowered to record any statement or confession made before him during the course of an investigation.
After recording the statement of Maliwal, Delhi Police late on Thursday lodged an FIR under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.
Subsequently, she underwent a medical examination at AIIMS.
