NIA’s nationwide crackdown targets JeM network
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids in the Mustafabad area of northeastern Delhi, recovering suspicious materials as part of an ongoing investigation into the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The operation, which involved the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and local police, began early Saturday morning.
Sources indicate that several suspicious items were seized during the raid, and notices have been issued to certain individuals. At least two people have been detained for questioning as the investigation unfolds.
This operation is part of a larger crackdown targeting a nationwide network associated with JeM, with raids being carried out at 22 locations across five states. In a coordinated effort, the NIA, along with the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), also executed simultaneous raids in Maharashtra, focusing on areas such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Malegaon, and Jalna. Four individuals connected to anti-national activities were detained during these operations.
In Jalna, two suspects were apprehended from the Gandhi Nagar area, while another was arrested from Azad Chowk in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Additional arrests were made in Malegaon, with all detainees being investigated for potential links to terror financing and support groups.
These recent actions are part of a broader initiative by the NIA to combat terror-related activities across India. Just days prior, on October 1, the agency conducted multiple raids in West Bengal as part of an investigation into a Maoist revival conspiracy. Similar operations occurred in Tamil Nadu last week, related to a terror conspiracy case that was transferred to the NIA from the Chennai Central Crime Branch.
