Iran says Kheybar Shekan missiles targeted Israeli PM’s office; Israel yet to confirm
In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing Middle East conflict, Iran’s military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), on Monday claimed it had successfully targeted the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv using Kheybar Shekan ballistic missiles.
In a statement, the IRGC said, “The office of the criminal Israeli PM, Netanyahu and the location of the regime’s Air Force commander were struck in targeted and surprise attacks by Kheybar Shekan ballistic missiles during the 10th wave.” However, it remains unclear whether the 76-year-old Israeli leader was present in the office at the time of the alleged strike.
Israel has not officially confirmed the claim, and there has been no immediate statement from Israeli authorities or media verifying damage to the Prime Minister’s office.
Conflict intensifies after Khamenei’s death
The latest claim comes amid soaring tensions following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a joint strike by the United States and Israel earlier this week. The killing marked a turning point in the confrontation, triggering rapid retaliation from Tehran.
Since then, both sides have exchanged heavy missile and drone attacks, pushing the region to the brink of a broader war. On Sunday, at least 10 people were killed and dozens injured in an Iranian strike on Beit Shemesh, a city near Jerusalem, according to local reports.
Addressing the nation, Netanyahu warned of intensified Israeli operations. “Our forces are now striking at the heart of Tehran with intensifying force, and this will only grow even stronger in the coming days,” he said.
Senior Iranian officials ‘neutralised’: Israel
Israel has claimed that two senior Iranian intelligence officials — Sayed Yahya Hamidi and Jalal Pour Hussein — were “neutralised” in the first wave of Israeli strikes.
According to Israeli officials, Hamidi served as Iran’s deputy minister of intelligence for Israel affairs and was allegedly involved in targeting Jewish communities globally. Hussein was said to have led Iran’s espionage division at the Ministry of Intelligence.
Tehran has not publicly responded to these claims.
Natanz nuclear site allegedly hit
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Reza Najafi, alleged that Israel targeted the Natanz nuclear enrichment site. He rejected claims by the US and Israel that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, calling them baseless.
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reportedly disputed Iran’s position on its nuclear programme.
Middle East remains on edge
With both Iran and Israel vowing continued military action, fears are mounting of a prolonged regional conflict. Tehran has signalled it will sustain strikes against Israeli targets, while Israel has warned of further escalation if Iranian attacks persist.
The fast-moving developments have left the wider Middle East in a state of heightened alert, as global powers closely monitor the unfolding crisis.
