PM Modi’s statement on ‘The Kashmir Files’, an attempt was made to suppress the truth

While expressing his thoughts on various topics in the BJP parliamentary party’s first meet after the party won 4 of the 5 state Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that movies like ‘The Kashmir Files’ should be made so that people get to know the truth.

PM Modi expressed his support for ‘The Kashmir Files’ which is based on true incidents depicting brutal genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in the 1990s.

He said that the entire ecosystem has been working to suppress the truth.

Prime Minister Modi said, “It is unfortunate for India, keeping the real perspective of History in front of society in the form of books, poems, songs are important and in this way, films also play an important role. People talk about Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela but talk very little of Gandhiji. If someone, during that time had made a film of Gandhiji’s life and put it in front of an audience then we could have sent a message. The first time when West made a film of Gandhiji, the world realized that Gandhi was such an icon.”

“People speak a lot of film appreciation but you must have seen – Emergency – no one made a film on it because we tried to hide the truth. When we decided to observe August 14 as a horror day then people had problems with it, how can we forget this?” the Prime Minister added.

PM Modi said, “Those who claim to be custodians of freedom of expression have lost their sense in the last few days. Rather than evaluating the movie on the basis of facts and art, they are running a campaign to discredit the movie.”

He added, “My issue is not a film. My concern is that whatever is the truth needs to be presented in the right manner for the good of the country. If one wants they can bring another movie on the same issue with a different perspective.”

Sharing a link of Prime Minister Modi’s video, Executive Editor, TV9 for National Security & Strategic Affairs, Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted, “BIG: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hits out at the ecosystem which is blocking the truth of Kashmiri Pandit exodus & genocide unraveled by ‘The Kashmir Files’ today. Entire gang which raises flag of freedom of expression are today freaked out unable to digest reality.

Earlier, Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, his actor-wife Pallavi Joshi, and producer Abhishek Agarwal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Abishek mentioned that PM Modi had appreciative words for the movie

The film is drawing a large number of spectators across the country and is made tax-free in several BJP-ruled states including Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat.
