KPSS accuses govt of failure to protect Kashmiri Pandit community
Sanjay Kumar Tickoo, President of the Srinagar-based organisation of local Pandits, Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS), issued a hard-hitting statement in the aftermath of Tuesday’s brutal killing of Kashmiri Hindus.
Tickoo asked all members of Kashmiri Pandits, a minority community in Kashmir, to leave the valley.
The KPSS statement said, “No Kashmiri Pandit is safe in Kashmir Valley. For Kashmiri Pandits, only one option left is to leave Kashmir or get killed by the religiously fanatic minds who have support from the local population.” The statement also accuses the government of its alleged failure to protect the Kashmiri Pandit community.
The statement alleged that tourists and Amarnath Yatris remained safe in Kashmir, but non-local Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits are the targets of terrorists.
Earlier, today, a Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead by terrorists at an apple orchard in the Shopian district. His brother was injured in the firing. This comes about three months after the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit at a government office in Budgam sparked widespread protests by the community.
